This meticulously crafted PMMA lens mold has been designed with full consideration of the material properties of PMMA, including its low refractive index, excellent high light transmittance, and limitations in flowability. To ensure the smooth progress of injection molding, we have employed advanced mold design techniques and refined injection strategies, carefully adjusting the mold's geometric structure, and cooling system.
The aim is to effectively address common issues such as weld lines, stress marks, bubbles, and shrinkage that may arise during the injection molding process of PMMA. Our design not only focuses on enhancing the optical performance of the product but also emphasizes improving the durability of the mold and meeting the aesthetic requirements of the product.
PMMA Lens Mold Design
This hot runner mold is designed to meet the exacting client manufacturing specifications. The 1x8 multi-cavity mold design significantly enhances production efficiency. It features a precisely engineered cavity layout that ensures uniform material distribution and complete cavity filling throughout the injection cycle.
The gate location, optimized for minimal shear and smooth material flow, is equipped with an 8P open gate type. The cooling system has been meticulously designed to maintain balance, ensuring consistent quality across all products. Furthermore, a skillfully engineered venting mechanism is implemented to avert the occurrence of voids or air traps, thereby preserving the optical clarity of the PMMA components.
PMMA Lens Mold Manufacture
The precision machining requirements for hot runner molds are exacting to ensure accurate alignment between the hot runner and the various components of the mold. High-grade steel, heat-treated to a hardness of HRC48-52, is employed to ensure the mold's prolonged service life.
The mold's cavity and core are meticulously engineered to stringent tolerances, thereby maintaining the dimensional integrity of the lens. State-of-the-art CNC machining techniques are utilized to fabricate intricate geometries and refined details within the mold.
In the hot runner system, a mirror polish is applied to meet the Surface SPI-A1 specification, which is essential for achieving a high-luster finish and the precise geometric contours necessary to preserve the optical performance of the PMMA lens.
