The plastic gear injection mold requires extremely high precision in terms of dimensions and performance. The parameters include: addendum circle diameter, dedendum circle diameter, module, pitch circle diameter, pitch circle tooth thickness, pressure angle, helix angle, and tooth ring runout tolerance, among others. If the gear does not meet the precision requirements, it can lead to unstable transmission, accompanied by vibration or swaying motion, and excessively loud noise.
Therefore, high machining accuracy is required for the concentricity of the plastic gear, the tooth profile, and other characteristics, with particularly stringent precision requirements for plastic gear molds.
Mold Machining
In the machining of tooth shapes, spur gears are machined by slow wire-cut EDM to achieve a smooth surface roughness on the tooth profile.
It is essential that both plates A and B are processed concurrently with slow wire-cut EDM to guarantee accurate coaxial alignment.
For standard gear ring inserts, once the tooth shaping process is finished, any subsequent grinding machine processing is not permissible due to the workpiece's thickness. Such processing could create lateral burrs on the tooth surface, potentially resulting in the workpiece being scrapped. In cases where further processing is unavoidable, EDM machining is the only viable option.
These steps highlight the precision and care required in the machining of gear components, ensuring that each part meets the stringent standards of quality and functionality.
